The Fine Arts Club/National Creative Society started something new last year. For every meeting of the Group II clubs, we had a Rome area performer come to PHS and give a short demonstration of just what it is that they do. Our first guest was Mrs. Mary Elaina Kirk (Mr. Kirk's wife). She is a professional storyteller. Mrs. Kirk has also taught classes at Kennesaw State University in storytelling. To get us in the mood for Halloween, she told our club two ghost stories. Other club meetings included Opera Outreach from Shorter College, a dance demonstration from Miss Wolf formerly of the Charleston Ballet, and a potter from a local Rome art gallery.

Select Ensemble joined the Three Rivers Singers and the NW GA Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Sam Baltzer for a Christmas Candlelight Concert at the Forum. PHS wins 3 of 4 scholarships from National Creative Society. Nick Godfrey - $1,000 for Creative Writing Brenna Horton - $1,000 for Visual Art Scotty Hooper - $1,000 for Music.

Select Ensemble singing Handel's "Messiah" with the Rome Symphony Orchestra. Students and Parents!
This is what we did year: Seven Students auditioned for All State, 3 students were accepted to All State in Savannah. 12 students participated in the GA 7th District Honor Chorus. 16 Singers participated in the NW GA Choral Festival at Shorter College. Select Ensemble and PHS Beginning Choruses performed a combined Fall Concert. Fine Arts Club hosted Mary Elaina Kirk, a storyteller.Fine Arts Club hosted "Opera Outreach" from Shorter College.PHS Second Block Players performed "The Room" and placed 5th out of 10 schools in our district. Our drama department hosted the 6AA One Act Play Competition in our new theater. Select Ensemble and PHS Beginning Choruses performed a combined Chritmas Concert.Fine Arts Club hosted PHS Dance Class performing "Finale" from the musical Fosse.. Select Ensemble sang in "Candlelight Celebration" concert at the Forum with the NW GA Wind Ensemble..Select Ensemble sang the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah with the Three Rivers Singers, and the Rome Symphony Orchestra. Fine Arts Club hosted a potter from a Rome art studio. 16 participated in the Floyd County Honor Chorus at Armuchee High.PHS hosted 7AA Literary Competition in our auditorium.Daniel Mojica won 1st in Region for Men's Solo.Men's Quartet placed 3rd in Region.Women's Trio placed 3rd in Region. Select Ensemble received 2 Superior and 2 Excellent ratings at Festival.Second Block Players gave 3 performances of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.Select Ensemble performed a Spring Concert.Select Ensemble gave 3 performances of Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. Select Ensemble underclassmen performed for the seniors and parents at baccalaureate.

Honesty, Theresa, LeAnna, and April are all members of the Select Ensemble and members of the National Honor Society.

Logan (Select Ensemble, Drama, Football, Baseball) was chosen as Mr. PHS. Jordan (Select Ensemble, Football) was first runner-up.
